How to Know your Job is Insignificant
Today we unexpectedly received a box from headquarters in the mail. I eagerly ripped it open and noticed that there were boxes of new business cards for everyone. I handed my boss his two boxes and gave my other two coworkers theirs as well. I saw one more box in there and was excited because I was sure it was for me. My job title didn’t change like everyone else’s so I was surprised to receive a box. I picked it up and immediately knew something was wrong; the box was much lighter than the others I had picked up. Throwing caution to the wind I opened it up and was bitter: I had half of a box of business cards and the other half was filled with balled up tissue paper to make the box heavier and to take up room. They had to pack my box with trash to make me feel better. That sucked. I was bitter and then laughed because it’ s not like I would be handing out my cards to anyone anyway. I’m a Senior Administrative Assistant…..No one needs my business cards. It sucked but it gave me a good laugh.
